WEIRD NEWS: Cows Use the MooLoo

A team of researchers in Germany have proven that cows can be potty trained, and in some cases "at least as good as children."

Scientists from New Zealand spent weeks in Germany offering treats to cows in order to coax them into a special pen, or MooLoo, to pee -- and in most cases it worked. On average, cows were potty trained in about 15 days. The researchers, however, did not train them to go number-two. The idea to potty train cows started out as a bit of a joke, until scientists figured it could actually benefit the environment to train cows to urinate in a special bathroom.

Cows apparently pee a lot -- about eight gallons a day. All that urine can be toxic to the water supply and also cause acid rain and other airborne pollutants. Researchers now plan to work on training cows to poop in a special area. (New Zealand Herald)

Scott's Thoughts and Dad Jokes:

  • If you see a cow running to use the bathroom, you better get out of the way.
  • Now if they could only get the bulls to put the seat down, that would be great.
  • Getting cows to walk into the bathroom to pee is great and all, but now they need to learn to flush.
  • If scientists could only train cows not to fart, that would prevent a lot of methane from getting into the atmosphere.
