Smarter Than the Average Bear
A large bear with an insatiable sweet tooth has found a favorite bakery in a small town in Italy, and all efforts to keep him from munching on pastries and cookies have so far been fruitless.
A bakery in Roccaraso, Italy was visited by a large brown bear that broke in through a window and snacked on cookies and other baked items. The bear, who has been given the name Juan Carrito, was trapped and airlifted to a wooded area 24 miles away where it was expected to live a comfortable and happy life. But just a few days later, the bear returned to the bakery where it was found outside playing in the snow. He was recaptured and flown to a national park 93 miles away, but three weeks later he found his way back again. Juan Carrito was captured again and fitted with a GPS collar so his whereabouts can be tracked. Meanwhile, the owners of the bakery have installed bars on the windows if or when the bear returns and is hungry. (Food and Wine)
