A New York man who suffered a fall on the job in 2013 and was supposedly so injured that he couldn't work, has been charged with fraudulently collecting disability payments after his wife's social media posts got him in trouble.
Anthony Ragusa, a former electrician, claimed on his application for disability benefits that he had difficulty walking more than 15 minutes and sitting more than 30 minutes. He also said it hurt to bend over to tie his shoes. But starting in 2017, his wife began to actively document his transformation into a bodybuilder on her Instagram account. She frequently posted photos of him lifting weights, and even competing in bodybuilder events. The authorities were tipped off to the Instagram posts and arrested Ragusa last year. He pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny and will pay $200,000 in restitution to the Social Security Administration. He'll also be on probation for five years. (MSN)
- They never catch the smart ones, just the dumb ones.
- He's probably one of many who are scamming the system.
- Great job by his wife. Wonder if this will be the end of their marriage?
