Nuts and Volts
More than 3,000 homes and businesses in Asheville, North Carolina lost power Wednesday morning thanks to a squirrel.
Duke Energy officials say crews investigating the massive outage, which also affected some government buildings, determined that a squirrel had come into contact with some wires and blew a fuse. Once they determined the cause, they were able to work on restoring power, which was finally done around 8:30 a.m. The condition of the squirrel is unknown. The incident comes just a month after a similar power outage in Minnesota in which a squirrel got into some wires and blew the power for 4,000 customers. (WLOS-TV)
Scott's Thoughts:
- That's nuts!
- It probably didn't end well for the poor squirrel.
- Squirrels can get into any place they want.
