Less stress this back-to-school season

Less stress this back-to-school season … Seems people are putting the stress of the pandemic behind them – at least when it comes to school. A survey found that teachers and parents are less anxious about the coming school year than they were last year. In fact, 44% of parents and 55% of teachers surveyed said they have a lot less stress surrounding the new school year. And kids are feeling less stressed as well. 57% of parents said their kids were less anxious about starting school this year.

Speaking of going back to school ...

College material ... It's the time of year when recent high school graduates take that first big step toward adulthood by heading off to college. But not all of them. In fact, fewer and fewer young adults are seeing the benefits of a college education and are deciding instead to go right into the workforce. American colleges and universities have seen a steady decline in enrollment in recent years. There are four million fewer college students in America today than 10 years ago, according to data from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center. Reasons for the decline include the high cost of a college education, the amount of time it takes to get a degree, and skepticism about the value of a degree.

Scott's Thoughts:

  • I did not finish college. I started then got into radio and went fulltime right away. I have done continuing education most of my life. I do not regret it!
  •  Even though it was not for me, i encourage my daughters to go to college or a vocational post high school program of some kind.
  • You still need to go to college for many types of professions.
  • Many people end up in a work field unrelated to their degree.
