WEIRD NEWS: Paddling the Pumpkin
A Nebraska man took pumpkin spice to a whole new level -- by climbing into a giant jack-o-lantern and paddling 38 miles down the Missouri River.
Duane Hansen hollowed out an 846-pound pumpkin that he'd grown himself and grabbed a paddle and a life jacket for what was supposed to be a six-hour journey. The 60-year-old asked for, and got, volunteers to witness his trip by following along on land.
Uncooperative weather made the trip longer than expected -- 11 hours in all -- but both Hansen and the pumpkin made it through in great shape. (Kansas City Star)
