GOVERNMENT AGENCY CALLS FOR ALCOHOL MONITORING TECHNOLOGY IN CARS
The National Transportation Safety Board is recommending that all new vehicles include alcohol monitoring technology. Members of the board pointed out that the technology to test blood alcohol in cars currently exists -- and that such a feature in cars could save tens of thousands of lives each year.
While the NTSB doesn't have the authority to put these regulations in place, the recommendation could put pressure on another government agency -- the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration -- to take action.
