WEIRD NEWS: Oh Sure, Blame the Dog
A woman in the U.K. was arrested for drunk driving and couldn't understand why because she explained to cops that she wasn't even driving -- her dog was.
47-year-old Melissa Jenkins Johanson was arrested after she drove on a walking path and crashed into a bus stop. She fled the scene and was later visited by police at her home and placed under arrest. She didn't deny being drunk, but she tried to convince officers that she was only a passenger in the car and that it was her dog Lily who was driving. Witnesses told police they saw the woman behind the wheel and cops noted that she was so intoxicated that she was babbling incoherently. She was eventually found guilty and sentenced to 12 months and lost her driving privileges for three years. (Wales Online)
Scott's Thoughts:
- Blaming a fart on your dog is one thing, but blaming a drunk driving offense on him? That's just evil.
- The dog is probably a more responsible driver.
- I would think the charges would be more severe if she had let her dog drive.
