Bewitched Vandal
A man in Salem, Massachusetts was arrested for splashing red paint on a statue of actress Elizabeth Montgomery from the classic sitcom Bewitched.
The act of vandalism raises two questions: Why would someone vandalize a statue of Elizabeth Montgomery, and why is there a statue of Elizabeth Montgomery in the first place? The answer to the first question is, the man had been going through a rough time in his life and he was trying to get arrested. As for the second question, Salem is famous for the 1692 witch trials, so they decided to celebrate the most famous TV witch.
The man had been facing a year in jail for disorderly conduct, but he took a plea deal which will out him on probation for 18 months. He also has to pay for the cost of cleaning and repairing the statue. (The Salem News)
Scott's Thoughts:
- Locals know it as the Bewitched statue or the "Samantha" statue.
- He wanted to go to jail but then took a plea deal to stay out of jail.
- Maybe he should be sentenced to play Darrin Stephens in a reboot.
