Weird News: Now Urine Artist

Now Urine Artist

People visiting the Tate Modern art gallery in London all share a common appreciation for art, but they're struggling to understand one artist's latest exhibit.

British artist Gavin Turk is selling cans of urine outside the building for about $560. Turk says he collected his urine for two years and put it in specially-designed aluminum cans which read, "artist's [pee]" in 31 different languages. There are 1,000 of these urine-filled cans available, and each one contains the artist's signature. Turk says he was inspired by Italian artist Piero Manzoni who, in the 1960s, sold cans of his own poop for the price of the equivalent weight in gold.

Turk's "art" comes with a message that "We are what we throw away, this piece of work asks you to look again at waste." (MSN)

Scott's Thoughts and Dad Jokes:

  • It can be anything in the can. Unless you actually open it, you won't know if it's really filled with pee or Coors Light. Or maybe it WAS Coors and now is pee.
  • Some art fans believe it's a good investment because the pee can will likely increase in value.
  • It's also available on draft.
