Fat shaming hits close to home … When we think of fat shaming, we often think of people being hurtful on social media, hidden behind anonymous keyboards, but it turns out that a lot of people feel fat shamed by those nearest and dearest to them. A new survey by Weight Watchers found that 51% of respondents say they have experienced body shame due to their weight, most commonly from a friend (51%), partner or spouse (46%), family member (45%), or doctor (40%). That’s probably why 45% don’t tell others when they are on a diet, because they don’t want to be shamed about it.
