PETS: World's Oldest Dog
A Florida Chihuahua, who was named the world's oldest living dog earlier this year before being stripped of the title by an older pooch, has regained his title.
The tan-colored pooch, named TobyKeith, is 21-years-old. He was thought to be the record-holder until Guinness learned about a 22-year-old South Carolina dog named Pebbles. Sadly, Pebbles passed away earlier this month, and officially handed the title back to TobyKeith.
The dog's owner, Gisela Shore, adopted him as a puppy from a shelter she used to volunteer at. Chihuahuas typically live between 12 and 18 years. Gisela says, "People can't believe how good he looks for his age." She adds that he is in perfect health and enjoys walks to the park, drives in the car, and sunbathing.
The oldest dog on record was an Australian cattle dog named Bluey who lived 29 years and 5 months. (USA Today)
Scott's Thoughts:
- Congratulations, TobyKeith!
- Hopefully Pebbles died happy knowing she was a record-holder.
- There could be an older dog out there somewhere, but until they come forward with proof, TobyKeith is the man.
