Go Go Restaurant Rangers
Dinner at a Japanese restaurant in Oakland, California turned into a scene right out of a Power Rangers movie.
The staff at NôKA Ramen happens to dress up in Power Rangers costumes as a fun gimmick to promote their signature cocktail, the NôKA Ranger. It turns out they were dressed appropriately Friday night when they were forced to be real superheroes. Diners were enjoying their meal when a woman ran inside saying she was in danger and needed help. She was followed in by a man who grabbed her and put her in a chokehold. The staff immediately jumped in and were able to separate the woman from the man and told her to go hide in the kitchen. The attacker then started yelling racial slurs and throwing things at the window. Eventually, the yellow Power Ranger was able to throw him out of the restaurant. But moments later, the man returned with another person and tried to get back in, but the staff locked the door and called police.
By the time police arrived, the men had fled down the road and were involved in another fight. Meanwhile, inside the restaurant guests were told their meals were all on the house. The next day they posted on Instagram, "Our NōKA Rangers were real life heroes last night when an incident occurred. Like our heroic namesakes, it's not just the powers and costumes that give us strength. It's who and what we are inside that empowers us. While we're proud of our team for going above and beyond in our time of need, we would like to assure our guests that this event is an anomaly at our restaurant." (People)
Scott's Thoughts:
- Wow! Dinner and a movie.
- That had to have been the most bizarre scene ever.
- Diners must have thought they were shooting a movie. Or that it was a part of the experience.
