To Protect and Serve... Fast Food
An Ohio woman waited a long time for DoorDash to deliver the food she ordered, but when it finally arrived she understood why there was a delay.
Ashley Csorba was tracking the delivery driver's location and noticed it was in one spot for a long time. That's because, as she would later find out, the driver was stopped by police and arrested. It turns out the 21-year-old driver was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant and, his license had also been suspended. But he mentioned to police that he was delivering a Sonic order to a customer, so the police officer took the food and finished the delivery for him. Ashley says she was confused when officer Matthew Colvin showed up at her door and asked, "Did you order Sonic?" He then explained, "OK, well we had a run-in with your driver but I just wanted to make sure you got your order."
Ashley shared the story on social media and it went viral. Police Chief Patricia Wain said, "I think it says what’s out there that a lot of people just don’t know about: We’re human, we’re part of the community and we understand that ‘hangry’ is a thing and we want to get people their food and serve the community." Scott's Thoughts:
- The same thing happened earlier this year in South Dakota when a cop arrested a DoorDash driver and then delivered Arby's to the customer.
- The officer could have easily just thrown out the food. It shows that he really works to protect and serve.
- Maybe DoorDash should really do better background checks on their drivers.
