Most people have a preference when choosing between a breast or a leg, and it usually comes down to things like taste and dryness. But what about nutrition? Which provides more health benefits? Everyone knows that dark meat contains more fat and calories, but most of that fat is monounsaturated and not so bad. Both are actually rich in vitamins and minerals. White meat has a slight edge in the amount of protein. Dark meat is juicier and white meat is tougher. So, at the end of the day, you can find pros and cons to both of them, so just stick with what you like more and enjoy your meal.
To bring or not to bring? More than any other holiday, Thanksgiving is all about the food. But is more really better? Etiquette expert Esteve Boyd says you should always ask if you can bring anything to the dinner table -- and if the host says "no," take it as a hard "no." Boyd says, “If the host says they have it covered, then don’t insist on bringing your green bean casserole. It is highly likely that the host has gone to lots of trouble to make sure that the menu is to their liking and will feel obliged to serve your dish.” Instead, Boyd suggests, show up with "some beautiful flowers in a vase, some gourmet food items that the host can enjoy another time or even some lovely wine.
The weirdest Thanksgiving recipes ... Thanksgiving recipes are often a wonderful blend of seasonal ingredients, herbs, and spices -- but then there are some that are just bizarre concoctions which, on paper, don't really make much sense but still end up on dinner tables across the country. Cycling Frog, a brand of THC seltzer, did some work using Google Trends to find the weirdest recipes that make an appearance on Thanksgiving tables, and then broke it down by state. It found that the weirdest dishes all seem to have three ingredients in common: Cool Whip, Jell-O, and marshmallows. The most popular dishes being ambrosia salad, Jell-O salad, and frogeye salad -- which, if you don't know, is a dish containing pasta, egg yolks, Cool Whip, canned fruit, and marshmallows.
