What a Pain in the Neck
A World War II veteran in China was shocked recently after discovering that the neck pain he had been experiencing was from a bullet that had been lodged in his neck for 77 years.
The 95-year-old former soldier, identified as Zhao, took a fall at home and experienced pain in his neck. His family took him to the hospital to get checked out. Doctors took an X-ray and discovered a bullet in his neck, as well as other war shrapnel in his body. Zhou remembers the war being very chaotic and recalls the fierce battles he was in, yet somehow couldn't remember ever being shot in the neck. After discussing the risks of performing surgery on the 95-year-old to remove the bullet, he and the doctors agreed to skip the procedure and let the bullet stay there as it hadn't caused any major damage for almost 80 years. Zhao says, "I’ve been healthy all these years so there is no reason to change things now." (OddityCentral)
