Scientists at the University of California, San Francisco studied 9.204 nine and 10-year-old children for two years, and say they’ve found a link between playing video games and the risk of developing obsessive-compulsive disorder. According to the results, every hour a child spends playing video games raises their risk of developing OCD by 13%.
It’s not just playing games; the study found an increase of 11% for every hour spent streaming videos on sites like YouTube. The researchers say the kids in the study spent an average of three hours and 54 minutes looking at screens every day, but the researchers found no link between an increased risk of OCD and watching movies or playing on cell phones.
