If you find yourself daydreaming, science has developed a way to help you stop. A team with the ATR Brain Information Communication Research Laboratory Group in Japan conducted a study where electrodes were hooked up to participants’ heads, and when their attention started to wander an alarm would sound.
At the end of the study, people who had been given the alarm mind-wandered less often than those that didn’t. The study was published in the journal Neural Networks.
