Catalytic converter thefts have become a major problem across the country leaving no vehicle safe from thieves -- not even the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile.
Thieves took a bite out of the iconic hot dog vehicle over the weekend in Las Vegas, swiping the catalytic converter from underneath as it was parked overnight in a hotel parking lot. Thieves target the part, which they saw off, because they can illegally sell the metal for thousands of dollars. The Weinermobile had to be towed to a garage where it was given a temporary catalytic converter. (BoingBoing)
Scott's Thoughts:
- The Weinermobile? Really? Is nothing sacred anymore?
- How does the Weinermobile not have better security?
- It's a huge ordeal to have your catalytic converter stolen. Getting a new one could take a while. Also costs a shit-ton of money.
