A would-be carjacker in Memphis really needs to work on his carjacking game after he stole a vehicle and made it only a few feet before he was stopped and had to flee on foot.
Police say the owner of the car pulled into his driveway and was immediately approached by a 22-year-old man who pointed a gun at him and ordered him out of the car. The jacker then tried to back out of the driveway, but the owner of the car saw the driver's side window was opened, so he reached inside and punched the thief in the face, which caused him to lose control of the car and crash it into a utility pole. He then jumped out of the car and ran away. Police have a description and the fingerprints of the carjacker, but have not yet captured him. (WREG-TV)
- That was pretty bold of the car's owner to reach in and punch the carjacker, but had he not done that his car would have been gone.
- It was probably a bad idea to try and steal a car that you have to back out of a long driveway.
