Being a parent is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be one of the most challenging things you’ll ever do. That’s why moms and dads are often open to advice from those in the know and one doctor is sharing some insight that brings big rewards and even better? It’s actually easy to do.
Dr. Becky Kennedy, a clinical psychologist, mom of three and founder of parenting site Good Inside, claims her parenting tip helps in a huge way, but only takes five seconds to do. And it’s just as simple as saying to your child, “It can be really hard to be a kid, right?” Sure, it’s just 10 words, but the impact they have is what matters.
According to Kennedy, hearing that line helps kids connect with their parents, because it offers sympathy and understanding and shows kids that their mom or dad is seeing the world from their perspective. Everyone wants to feel seen and heard and this gives that to kids, which this expert says can ultimately improve their behavior.

Scott's Thoughts:
- I may have said this sarcastically to my kid before, but that doesn’t have the same positive result!
- Raising a kid can be hard.
- Just listen to your kids and respond the right way.
