Seems shoppers aren’t clicking “buy now” as much as they were before. A new survey found that “impulse buying” is down in 2023, with more shoppers looking to make smarter purchases. According to the survey, the average respondent made six impulse buys a month – down from 12 a month in 2022 and 2021 and 9 per month in 2020. And we are spending less on those impulse purchases. The average respondent said they were spending just $151 impulsively each month -- down from $314 in 2022, $276 in 2021, and $183 in 2020.
Scott's Thoughts:
- We were all impulse buying during the pandemic – buying things like bread makers and pizza ovens. Or in my case stereo equipment.
- It was really hard to resist prime day this year. There were so many things I ALMOST put on a credit card!
