TINDER SHOWS HOW TO CREATE THE IDEAL PROFILE

You need a good dating profile to have success on the apps and Tinder is giving us insight into what makes the ultimate bio and profile. The dating app is showing that creating one is an art by using famous paintings as examples. They’ve made profiles for the Mona Lisa and The Girl with a Pearl Earring, among other classics.

The Tinder profile for the Mona Lisa lists her name as Madam Lisa, her age as 25 and that she lives in Paris. She’s looking for a long-term partner and is interested in meditation, museums and ice cream. Her “about me” section reads: “Meet me in The Louvre, I’ll teach you how to perfect your smize. A low-key girl who enjoys a cozy evening in by the fire. Looking for someone to do late-night gallery trips with and read together in comfortable silence.”

Tinder recommends being honest in your profile and using it to share a little of your personality.

  • The dating app also advises keeping your bio fresh and relevant and suggests mentioning your new favorite TV show or spot for a first date.
  • They recommend using a range of four to five photos to show off “who you are and your personality.”

A new survey of 1,000 18- to 24-year-olds also gives insight for creating the optimal profile, noting that the ideal dating app bio is between 15 and 45 words long.

  • It finds 45% prefer when their potential match is clear about what they’re looking for in their bio.
  • More than half of the singles polled say people who share their hobbies and interests in their bio are more likely to catch their attention.
  • What you write matters, too, as 30% are turned off by bad spelling and grammar and 35% say a long list of what someone’s “type” is gives them the ick.
  • Photos can make a profile, as 51% of respondents think a photo with an ex is the biggest turn-off, while 39% don’t like photos that are clearly edited.

Scott's Thoughts:

  • You really have to choose your words carefully if your bio only uses 15!
  • I have never had the (Pleasure or pain) of having a dating profile.
  • I think people overstate their bios all the time.
