Everyone knows that groceries have become super pricey, but an Ohio woman knew there was no way her Instacart order of nearly $2,800 was accurate.
Jill McCormick says she ordered $282 worth of groceries from Kroger. Not only did she not receive her order, she was charged $2,783 for it. McCormick says "My heart stopped because I'm thinking panic mode. Something is happening, and I have to react very quickly, and I didn't even know where to start." She started by getting in touch with the Instacart shopper who told her it was a mistake and that the charge was cancelled. Only, it wasn't. The enormous charge remained in her account until she finally spent an hour on the phone with her bank which was eventually able to get Instacart to cancel it.
In the end, Kroger apologized for the mistake and refunded the full amount. On top of that, they offered a $20 gift card as an apology, which was later increased to $250 when McCormick told them the original offer wasn't sufficient. (WCPO-TV)
