'Rich Men North of Richmond' bashing DC elites becomes overnight sensation!

If Oliver Anthony truly sold his soul as he claims to have in his song “Rich Men North of Richmond,” the exchange seems to have paid off.

The country ballad, which criticizes politicians, has made Anthony a country megastar overnight with millions of views since being uploaded to YouTube. (Warning language may not be appropriate for all audiences.)

In the song, Anthony voices what he feels are concerns of America's working class. While doing so, he sings that he wishes "politicians would look out for miners" and "not just minors on an island somewhere."

The song pulls no punches including: "Well God, if you're 5 foot 3 and you're 300 pounds/ Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds.”

Anthony has earned social media fame for the song, with the tune being shared by the likes of Joe Rogan, Laura Ingraham and now Scott Stevens.

Some have compared the song to Jason Aldean’s "Try That in a Small Town,” who's video was pulled from CMT after it was accused of being pro-lynching. Despite the controversy, the song rose to the number one spot on the Billboard Top 100, and continues to receive airplay on country stations including WYYD.
