Man Dines on Hardware Salad

An Indian man suffering from a terrible stomachache for two years finally went to the doctor who informed him that the pain was likely caused by his diet, which included items more likely to be found in a hardware store than a grocery store.

35-year-old Kuldeep Singh went to the hospital with a fever and severe stomach pain. Doctors performed an X-ray and were shocked to discover that he had treated his gut like a junk drawer. They found about 60 trinkets, including lockets, chains, nuts, bolts, safety pins, magnets, buttons, earphones, and more. They diagnosed him with a mental health condition known as pica, where the patient “compulsively swallows items that aren’t food."

Many of the objects he swallowed were sharp and the caused severe wounds inside his stomach. Doctors decided to operate and it took them three hours to remove all of the items. But despite the surgery being a success, he is still in critical condition and on a ventilator. (NY Post
