*LIST* MOST CHARITABLE STATES FOR 2024

With the holidays right around the corner, ‘tis the season for giving for many Americans. In 2022, U.S. donors gave nearly $500 billion to charity, but they don’t just donate money. Close to 61-million people in the U.S. volunteer, contributing a total of 4.1-billion hours a year. But it turns out, residents in some states are more giving than others and a new report reveals which ones those are.

  • WalletHub has just come out with their list of the Most Charitable States for 2024.
  • They compared all 50 states on 19 key indicators of charitable behavior in two main categories: Volunteering & Service and Charitable Giving.
  • States were rated on everything from volunteer hours per capita to the share of population donating money.
  • For the third year in a row, Utah is the Most Charitable State.
  • It has the highest volunteer rate as well as the most volunteer hours per capita, plus, WalletHub’s research reveals Utah residents are the most financially generous of all the states.
  • Arizona is the least charitable state, landing at 50th for charitable giving and 43rd for volunteering and service.

  • Looks like some states could learn a few things about being charitable from Utah!
  • I think if you were to separate NOVA from this part of Virginia, we would be much higher.
  • There are so many charities that need help. Especially around the holidays!
