With the whole world to choose from, deciding where to take your next vacation can be overwhelming, but Fodor’s Travel is here to help. The travel guide has just released their 2024 Go List, highlighting destinations they recommend visiting, along with their No List, which includes places you should reconsider.
This year’s Go List features 24 “lust-worthy” destinations on almost every continent.
- North American locations include Boulder, Colorado; Cannon Beach, Oregon; and Nelson, British Columbia, Canada.
Other destinations making the Go List include:
- Albania
- Bergen, Norway
- Botswana
- Cape Verde
- Copan Ruinas, Honduras
- Franschhoek, South Africa
- George Town, Malaysia
- Negril, Jamaica
- Stanley, Tasmania, Australia
- Sri Lanka
- São Paulo, Brazil
- Queenstown, New Zealand
- Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica
- Puerto Escondido, Mexico
Fodor’s No List includes nine areas to reconsider visiting because of the negative impact tourism is having there. They’re divided into three categories:
- Destinations facing water quality and sufficiency issues - Lake Superior; The Ganges River, India; and Koh Samui, Thailand
- Places dealing with “overwhelming trash accumulation”- Ha Long Bay, Vietnam; the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument in Los Angeles County, California; and The Atacama Desert, Chile
- Locations “suffering from destructive ongoing overtourism” - Venice, Italy; Athens, Greece; and Mount Fuji, Japan

Scott's Thoughts:
- I guess Venice and Athens will have to wait for a different year!
- Have you made travel plans for 2024 yet? Would you like to visit any of the places on the Go List? Which ones appeal to you?
- Were you hoping to go to any of the destinations on the No List? Would this stop you from going?
