Do you bring your pet when you go home for the holidays? New research suggests your cat or dog may be the one people really want to see anyway. According to a new survey, 43% of Americans think their loved ones are more excited to see their pet during the holidays than they are to see them.
The poll of 2-thousand cat and dog owners reveals:
- A third (32%) admit they’re really more excited to see their friends’ and family members’ pets than them.
- As for their furry friends, 20% believe their pet enjoys the holiday season more than they do.
- That may be because nearly half (48%) do something special for their pet this time of year, like dressing them up in holiday clothes or jammies (60%), giving them their own tree (49%) or stocking (47%).
- About half (49%) give their cat or dog extra treats, while 68% treat their pet to their own special holiday meal.
- As for presents, 42% give their pet gifts, and the most popular are toys (61%), clothing (59%) and treats (56%).
- And 77% believe their pet is happier with getting to see more visitors around the holidays.
- Top ways pets get spoiled during the holiday season are having their person home with them (60%), going on more walks and adventures (42%) and getting to sleep more (40%).
- Some pet parents think their cat or dog has a favorite holiday, 40% think it’s Christmas, while 19% say it’s New Year’s Day.

Scott's Thoughts:
- I’m all for spoiling your pet, but do they really care about having their own Christmas tree?
- I don't think this applies to me. My moms dog is cute but is a yapper. Nobody wants to hear that every time somebody pulls in the driveway.
- My cat enjoys hiding under the tree and eating off Christmas bows. He's a bit of an idiot. But I love him.
