Before you get adventurous and explore places off the beaten path, it’s always nice to know you won’t be in danger and new research can help.
Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection has released their ninth annual State of Travel Insurance report, which ranks the safest countries in the world for travelers.
- The travel insurance provider analyzed data from the Global Peace Index and the State Department’s travel safety ratings to look at concerns including health, terrorism and weather emergencies. They also surveyed 17-hundred people about the safety of the specific countries they’ve visited recently.
- Canada tops the list as this year’s safest country for travelers, up from sixth last year.
- Our neighbor to the north scores highly thanks to their cold weather and low population density that make for safe travel.
- Wildfires and the resulting poor air quality are the only things listed for travelers to watch out for in Canada.
