Valentine's Day. A Hodge Podge of Stories from Scott Stevens.

Getting your special someone some lingerie for Valentine's Day? Forget about string bikinis and thongs ... the hottest thing in the lingerie department is granny panties. TikTok trendsetters are all about bloomers, boy shorts, and hipster and high-waist cuts, saying the less-skin baring style make them feel “better” about themselves. Drew Barrymore got on the bandwagon during her daytime show, saying, "The bigger the underwear, the better I feel." Even Kim Kardashian is on board – with a new line of Granny Panties marketed through her Skims line.

Old crushes … Valentine's Day is a time to be with the one you currently love, even as many of us might still be thinking about an old love. A CBS News poll found that nearly half of adults either occasionally or frequently think about an old crush. Only 51% said they never do. Half admit to using social media to find out about an old crush.

The poll also found that 39% say they wish they had done more to pursue an old crush, while 60% say they have an old crush they wish they had never gotten involved with. As for married couples, when asked if they would marry their spouse all over again, 82% said yes.

Happy Valentine's Day, now eat your veggies ... A company called Tenderstem thinks it can melt your heart while making it healthy – with a Valentine's treat made of chocolate-covered broccoli. The package reads: “Show your tender side this Valentine’s Day with these limited edition fresh dark chocolates filled with a gentle Tenderstem broccoli." Not everyone is into the idea: As one person commented, “Perfect for a love-hate relationship."

Then again, a British woman was thrilled when her guy brought her a “broquet,” broccoli pieces formed into a heart on their bed and lined up in the bathroom with lit candles. Check it:

Time to do some bodyscaping … It's Valentine's Day, the biggest date night of the year, and men and women everywhere are getting ready to look their very best. For some, date night preparations will include varying degrees of body grooming, shaving, and some landscaping. According to a new survey, about 52% of people prefer to be neat and smooth, while 48% are cool with submitting to nature. About 30% say they do their grooming weekly, while 21% groom daily, and 10% just go au natural. Most groomers say they do it because they like to feel neat and clean, but 12% say they only do it to please their significant other.

It's time to give up ... for Lent, that is. Valentine's Day has been getting all the headlines, but February 14th is also Ash Wednesday – the first day of Lent for Catholics. Traditionally, folks give up something they love for the 40-day season of reflection, and foods are high on the list of things kicked to the curb, including:

  1. Chocolate
  2. Fast food
  3. Red meat
  4. Coffee
  5. Sugary cereal
  6. Fried foods
  7. Alcohol
