For those who don’t know, $2 bills are still a thing…and they’re still being printed. That, however, doesn’t mean you should run out to your bank and get a bunch of them. In fact, one bank teller has nine specific reasons why you shouldn’t:
- Many banks don’t even have them
- Bank drawers typically aren’t designed for bills other than the traditional $1, $5, $10, $20 setup
- They “put a wrench in our flow”
- They “baffle the newbies”
- People think they’re fake
- More people save them than spend them (thinking they might be more valuable than just $2)
- They can be hard to get rid of…for many of the same reasons as mentioned above
- They can slow down transactions
- They’re not worth the fuss that some people make over them
