A booking error within American Airlines computer system keeps getting a 101-year-old woman confused with a baby. The problem seems to stem from the fact that their system can’t comprehend that Patricia, whose last name was withheld, was born in 1922, rather than 2022. As a result, there have been times when the expected wheelchair to transport her across the airport didn’t arrive because staff assumed she was a one-year-old child who could be carried. Apparently, the American Airlines system doesn’t account for people living past the one-century mark, so it immediately defaults them to 100-years younger. It sounds like a good problem to have, in theory, until it comes time to…you know…need assistance getting around a massive airport.
