This guy is Phi Beta Cat-pa. Max, a 6-year-old tabby, has been a beloved presence at Vermont State University ever since his owner, Ashley Dow, began letting him roam the grounds. Known for his friendly nature, Max often greets students and visitors, even climbing onto their backpacks for selfies. Recognizing the impact he’s had on daily campus life, the university awarded him an honorary doctorate in "Litter-ature" as part of the 2024 graduating class.
This unique honor was suggested by Rob Franklin, the school's social media manager, to celebrate Max's role in supporting the community. Despite not attending the ceremony, Max's degree will be sent to him. With summer approaching, Max is expected to remain a popular fixture, especially during the university's summer camps.
