Still trying to decide what to give your dad this Father’s Day? You may want to save your money this year because a new survey finds nearly a third of dads say they don’t want anything for their special day.
According to a YouGov poll of 500 dads, 32% say they don’t want a present for the holiday. As for the rest of them who would like something, their top choices include:
- Going out for drinks/a meal 19%
- A greeting card 18%
- A gift card 17%
- Alcohol 16%
- A personalized or handmade gift 10%
- Tools/gear/equipment (for DIY, sports, cooking, etc) 9%
- A gadget or device 9%
- Free time to do what they want 8%
- Tickets to an event (sports game, show, concert, etc) 8%
- And the least popular answer is an experience (sports lesson, skydiving, craft class, etc) 3%
But how do dads want to spend their holiday? The majority (58%) say they’d enjoy just spending time with their kids. Their other top Father’s Day activities include:
- Enjoying a meal at home 42%
- Going out to eat/drink 30%
- Watching movies/TV of their choice 24%
- Spending time on their own 19%
- Doing nothing 15%
- Spending time with their friends 15%
- Spending time with their romantic partner without the kids 13%
- Going out for an activity (sport, show, hike, etc) 13%
- Spending time with their father/father figure 6%
