An Iowa woman has been arrested over a severe and dangerous episode of cold feet.
18-year-old Sumaya Thomas met a guy on a dating app, and after exchanging several texts, she agreed to meet up with him in person. However, she got very nervous and decided at the last moment that she wasn't ready. So, instead of doing the right thing and just telling the guy she wasn't up for meeting in person yet, she called 911 and told police that her abusive ex-boyfriend, whose baby she was carrying, was outside her home threatening to "hit, punch, and stab her."
Police were immediately dispatched to her home and they saw the man walking away and stopped him to ask some questions. The man told police that he just started chatting with Thomas on a dating app a week ago and showed them the texts as proof. He denied her entire story and police found him to be credible. After multiple interviews with Thomas, she finally admitted to making up the whole story to get out of meeting him. Officers then arrested her for placing a false 911 call and falsely reporting a crime. (The Smoking Gun)
