No matter which side you’re on, it seems like Democrats and Republicans don’t agree on much, but according to new research, there’s one area where both parties have some similarities - their sex lives. New research looks into the way personal politics influence Americans’ dating habits and finds 60.5% admit that a partner having different political views is a dealbreaker.
The survey of 972 people also reveals:
- The majority of Democrats are dating Democrats (86.7%) and Republicans are dating Republicans (84.4%).
- Nearly three-quarters of respondents have previously fought with their significant other about a political matter.
- Nearly a third (31.5%) say they would immediately end a relationship after a year of dating if their partner changed to the other political party.
- As for sex on a first date, 65% of Trump supporters expect it, compared to 57% of Biden supporters.
- The numbers are almost equal when it comes to who’s had a one-night stand, 72% of Dems have done it and 70% of GOP members have, too.
- Six out of 10 non-Democrats would dump their partner if they were to vote for Joe Biden in the 2024 election and 4.5 out of 10 non-Republicans would break up with their partner if they vote for Trump.
- People are evenly divided about whether politics affects their sex life, with 45.5 saying it does and 45.5% saying it doesn’t.

Scott's Thoughts:
- It sure seems like politics affects everyone’s lives!
- If you and your partner have core opposite beliefs, how did you end up together?
- I feel it is better to not talk about politics with my partner.
