A Houston woman was scrolling through Facebook when she saw a post that stopped her dead in her tracks. It was a gift registry for an upcoming wedding... for her husband and another woman.
The woman, identified only as Tammie, was understandably shocked to learn that her husband, Marcus Andra Shorten, was marrying another woman while they were still legally married. Although they had separated in 2019, they had not finalized their divorce because Marcus didn't want his family to think he's a failure.
Marcus ultimately married his new wife, which is his fourth marriage, even though he was already legally married and now he is charged with bigamy -- a felony which could land him behind bars for 10 years. When asked by reporters about the charges, Marcus said he wasn't aware of them and denied being married to anyone. Tammie said, "You can’t go around lying and misleading individuals at your self satisfaction. I told him, ‘Before you let the whole world know what you’re doing, make sure your business is right.’” (KTRK-TV Houston)
