It is NOT OK to drink 25 cups of coffee a day in spite of research!

A recent British study looking at coffee and its effect on cardiovascular health has gained some sensational social media headlines…but they can be misleading. The study was specifically looking at coffee consumption and how it affected the hardening of arteries. Around 8K people were surveyed, with coffee habits ranging from 1-to-25 cups of coffee each day. Yes…25. The survey concluded that even a high amount of coffee consumption didn’t have a noticeable effect on the hardening of arteries…leading some to run with headlines telling people that it was safe to drink 25 cups of joe a day. For the record, the Mayo Clinic has concluded that it’s “safe” to drink four cups a day and that overconsumption can lead to “insomnia, headaches, nervousness, upset stomach, muscle tremors, restlessness, and an inability to control urination.”
