Ambulances usually rush patients to the hospital, not away from the hospital, but that's what appeared to happen in New York on Tuesday.
Police say a patient had just been discharged from the emergency room when he jumped into a parked ambulance outside and drove away. Cops say 41-year-old Ernest Burkett led them on a high-speed chase for 30 minutes and through six towns, occasionally hitting police cars and ultimately crashing into a pole and flipping over.
Burkett was immediately taken into custody and given another ride in an ambulance, back to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. He's charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of stolen property, grand larceny, unlawful fleeing a police officer and criminal mischief. (NY Post)
