It might not feel like it yet, but it’s almost October, which means the start of spooky season is right around the corner. We have just over a month until Halloween and it turns out, a lot of people are already looking forward to the holiday.
According to a new survey from the National Confectioners Association:
- An impressive 94% of Americans plan to celebrate Halloween with candy this year.
- But a lot of them aren’t waiting until October 31st to indulge, more than half will start enjoying Halloween treats before the holiday.
- Nearly all (97%) of Americans will be giving out candy to trick-or-treaters.
- Two-thirds of them say they give trick-or-treaters two or three pieces of candy.
- Americans’ favorite Halloween treats are:
- Chocolate
- Gummy candy
- Chewy candy
- Candy corn
- Hard candy
- Lollipops
- Shapes matter, too, as two-thirds like their sweets shaped like pumpkins, ghosts and bats.
- And just like we always suspected, more than half of parents confess they steal from their kids’ Halloween candy stash.

Scott's Thoughts:
- Well, you know the other half of those parents are lying, they sneak candy from their kids’ too!
- I love handing out candy but typically there are no trick or treaters in my neighborhood!
- I cannot eat much candy. Sucks to have type 2 diabetes!
