A gummy Halloween…

Expect more gummy candies in your trick-or-treat bags this year. Thanks to high cocoa prices and a growing love for chewy, fruity, sour treats among Millennials and Gen Z, chocolaty treats are taking a back seat to other candies. While chocolate still leads the sweets category, candy is growing faster, said Sally Lyons Wyatt, an analyst at market research firm Circana. According to Wyatt, teens to adults in their mid-40s are more likely to choose gummy, fruity, and sour candy over chocolate. This Halloween, expect to see new creations like Twizzlers Ghosts, Brach’s Mellowcreme Autumn Leaves, Sour Patch Kids Apple Harvest, Nerds Candy Corn, and Skittles Shriekers.
