On Monday, Luigi Mangione, the alleged assassin of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, was taken into custody at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania after being recognized by a customer. After that, of course, the internet did what it does, and an image of a Burger King sign reading “We Don’t Snitch” went viral…suggesting that no one at the rival burger chain would’ve blown the whistle on Mangione. After what turned out to be a not-so-difficult investigation, it can now be confirmed that the sign image isn’t real…and it was created through a fake screenshot generator online. Once again, this should serve as proof that just because you see it in a meme doesn’t make it true. Sadly, that won’t stop people from believing it anyway.
