The “child-free” wedding trend is becoming more popular, but everyone doesn’t always follow the rules. Some attendees think it’s unfair when they can’t bring their kids, so they do it anyway. And that’s exactly what happened to one Texas bride at her recent nuptials and the baby who broke the rules did what babies do - cried … all throughout the ceremony.
The bride, Claire Kendall Taetz, shared a clip of the wedding on TikTok, which has since gone viral with more than 3-million views. It shows her at the altar with her groom, Joshua Joe, while a baby screams loudly from the church pews. The tot can be heard yelling, “No!” at one point, and Claire says the screaming went on like that for 10 minutes. Keep in mind that this was supposed to be an “adults-only” ceremony, so this kid wasn’t even supposed to be there, much less make a scene.
Multiple guests even offered to take the baby out, but the parent refused because he’d driven 10 hours to see the wedding and didn’t want to miss it. Eventually, he took the baby out “for a second,” but came right back inside, much to the couple’s dismay. Claire admits the screaming child made it hard to concentrate on the important moment, explaining that it “definitely distracted me and left me feeling disrespected.” She’s now a bigger advocate for child-free weddings because you just never know what kids are going to do.

Scott's Thoughts:
- And that’s why you don’t bring a baby to a child-free wedding!
- Would it have been so hard for the parent to take the kid out of the church and let the couple say their vows in peace? That's what I would have done.
- My kids were good but all babies cry so I remember taking them out of concerts/movies/dinner to get them calmed down.
