The battle for territorial naming rights has expanded – this time to steak. Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has made a proposal that would demand a “New York Strip Steak” to be renamed “Texas Strip Steak.” Patrick points out that Texas has 12.2 million heads of cattle, which is the most in America. In his proposal, restaurants will be asked to change the name of the cut of meat the next time they make changes to their menus, and grocery stores will be asked to make the same change. Patrick hopes it’s an idea that starts to catch on nationwide. While cute, doesn’t it seem like there are more important issues going on that should be tackled?
