Gatlinburg SkyPark is excited to announce "Rucksack Circus," an extraordinary highlining exhibition event set for March 21 and 22, 2025. This unique slacklining event will feature elite athletes performing breathtaking balancing acts against the stunning backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Highlining, unlike traditional tightrope walking, is a more dynamic and challenging discipline. Athletes will traverse nylon or polyester webbing lines suspended at dramatic heights, with tensions under 1,000 pounds, creating a responsive surface that sways and bounces with each movement. What makes this performance particularly remarkable is that these skilled performers accomplish their feats without the use of balance poles or stabilizing lines.
"This event brings together the beauty of the Smokies with the impressive and exciting balancing skill of the slackliners," says Randy Watson, General Manager at Gatlinburg SkyPark.
On Saturday only, Red Bull will enhance the festival atmosphere with their event truck, offering music entertainment and complimentary Red Bull tastings throughout the day.
