A middle school principal in Polk County, Florida has been arrested for attempting to pull an amateur-hour shoplifting stunt that his own students would be likely be too smart to try. Gregory Lewis is now on administrative leave from Bok Academy North after he’d been busted for allegedly “skip scanning” at a local Walmart store. Loss prevention officers say they saw Lewis “placing a bag of disposable foam plates between items of higher value” at the self-checkout station. Officers say Lewis admitted to the attempted theft after friends told him how they’d done it…and he supposedly wanted to see if he could get away with it, too. Reportedly, the items he’d tried to steal included light bulbs, bacon, and butterfly shrimp, which had a total value of $37.45.
