Move over, Dr. Google, Americans are now using high-tech help in another form for their health needs. A new survey finds that 35% are already using artificial intelligence to learn about and manage parts of their health and wellness.
According to the poll of 2-thousand U.S. adults:
- The top ways they use AI for their health include to get insight into specific medical conditions or issues (31%), to help with weekly meals and recipes (25%), to learn about new fitness routines (23%) and even for emotional or therapeutic support or advice (20%).
- About a quarter (24%) say they use AI to fact-check health and wellness information from other sources, like social media, their friends, and health professionals.
- Despite the technology still being fairly new, 63% find it trustworthy for health information.
- They trust it more than social media (43%) and influencers (41%), but still not as much as doctors (93%) and their friends (82%).
- Respondents think it’s easier to ask AI specific questions than using a search engine (31%) and find it more accessible than talking to a health professional (27%).
- Overall, 73% of Americans want to keep up with the latest health trends, regardless of whether or not they use AI.
- When it comes to wellness, sleep and rest are the top priorities (54%) of those surveyed, beating fitness and exercise (46%), mental and emotional health (42%) and weight management/weight loss (38%).
- Three-quarters (75%) say they’re concerned about aging and how it affects their health, but more Americans are embracing it and finding peace with aging (44%) than fighting it to stay young (21%).

Scott's Thoughts:
- Getting recipes from AI is one thing, but do you really want to trust it for medical advice?
- I use AI to help me write stories or commercials. As a stroke survivor myself, it helps me to find mistakes in my memos!
- I might have to give this a try!
