If you live in parts of Idaho, you might want to keep an eye (and ear) out—because residents in Eagle and Boise say rats are taking over.
Reports out of Ada County describe what some are calling a full-on “rat apocalypse,” with rodent activity popping up in neighborhoods and around homes. The issue has grown so large that some homeowners are spending thousands of dollars on private pest control just to keep the critters at bay.
Doug and Barbara Perry say the problem has been impossible to ignore. They’ve been woken up in the middle of the night by the sounds of rats chewing on cables and scurrying through their home.
Frustrating residents even more, local officials say their options are limited. Without approval from the state, there’s no regional agency currently in place to tackle the growing infestation.
For now, homeowners are left to fight the rats on their own—and hope the situation doesn’t get any worse.
