Well… That’s One Way to Make a Fashion Statement
Just when you thought you’d seen everything the internet has to offer, along comes a trend that makes you do a full double-take… and maybe step away from your morning coffee.
An Australian boutique with a flair for the unusual is raising eyebrows (and probably a few gag reflexes) with a very unconventional line of “lingerie.” The shop—called Rat Oddity Gizzard—has created pieces featuring real taxidermied rats stitched directly onto underwear. Yes… actual rats.
The collection, cleverly (or questionably) named “LingeRAT,” was never really designed for everyday wear. According to the company, it’s more of an art piece than something you’d throw on under your jeans. But once photos hit social media, the internet did what the internet does best—turned it into a full-blown viral moment.
Reactions have been… mixed.
Some people claim they’d wear the pieces purely for shock value—because nothing says confidence like casually revealing a rat-themed undergarment. Others, however, are firmly in the “absolutely not, under any circumstances” camp.
Despite the backlash, the boutique stands by the authenticity of the items, confirming the rats are real and offering the pieces for around $137. Which raises an important question: what exactly is the return policy on something like that?
At the end of the day, fashion has always been about pushing boundaries—but this might be one case where the boundary pushes back. Hard.
So while you’re picking out your outfit today, just remember: no matter what you choose, at least it probably doesn’t involve a taxidermied rodent.
